Redmi Note 15 SE 5G India Launch Set for April 2 With Special Edition Design
Launch Details and Microsite Visibility
Indian users are waiting for the launch of the Redmi Note 15 SE 5G. According to a post made by Redmi on its social media page (X), April 2nd has been set as the launch date of the device. Separately, a dedicated microsite has also been created on Flipkart that lists the device for sale when it officially launches in India. The listing and teaser have led to speculation that the SE Edition of the Redmi Note 15 SE is simply the China-exclusive special edition of the device that was released to celebrate Spring Festival (commonly called Chinese New Year) this year. The phone is cherry red with gold front panel; Redmi branding is located in the center back of the phone, as shown in the image below.
This announcement comes on the back of the launch of the Redmi Note 15 5G in India earlier this year, and according to information from the manufacturer regarding the Android SE edition of the Redmi Note 15 SE, it will be part of the overall Redmi Note 15 series being launched in India. The timing places the SE edition within the first week of April, aligning with the company’s public scheduling on X and the live microsite that confirms availability through the e-commerce platform.
The Redmi Note 15 SE features a bold red colour with an accentuated contrasting frame alongside the large central "Redmi" brand logo on its rear panel.
Additionally, the public-facing materials potentially indicate that the SE Edition may be a rebranded version of its Chinese counterpart: New Year Cherry Edition. While official messaging suggests a completely separate launch in India, there are many visual cues and branding elements that appear to link back to the original China design line. This context helps frame expectations for how the SE edition will look when it reaches shelves, even as pricing and regional configurations remain to be disclosed.
Key Specifications and Context
To frame the SE edition against what is already known about the Redmi Note 15 5G, the Indian launch follows the general Redmi Note 15 5G specifications that were introduced earlier this year. As of October 2023, the Note 15 5G was priced at Rs 22,999 for its entry-level variant with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage; there was also an option to upgrade to 256 GB of storage for Rs 24,999. The Note 15 5G was initially released in three colour styles, Black, Glacier Blue, and Mist Purple. However, the new SE edition is an updated style and is aimed primarily at Indian consumers; hence the creation of a separate microsite and the launch of teasers to create awareness and develop excitement prior to the official launch on April 2nd.
The SE edition will share many core design features with the Note 15 5G including the apparent size/design of the rounded rectangular camera module on the back and the placement of the Redmi branding on the back of the device. It has also been indicated that the SE edition will launch in bright red with a gold trim to match the Chinese New Year Cherry Red Edition. Whether this edition preserves the same glass construction, panel technology, or camera spec parity as the Note 15 5G remains a matter for near-term confirmation, as the post and microsite do not provide a detailed spec matrix for the India variant.
