Google Pixel January Update Breaks WiFi and Bluetooth on Some Devices
Google says the January 2026 Pixel update led to WiFi and Bluetooth issues on some devices. A 9to5Google report notes problems emerged days after broader rollout, with users turning to Google support forums and Reddit to report issues.
According to the report, the issues appear as the update reaches more devices. The problems do not affect every Pixel model, but are reported on models including Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro XL, according to the publication.
Models affected
- Pixel 8 Pro
- Pixel 9 Pro
- Pixel 10
- Pixel 10 Pro XL
Symptoms reported
- WiFi connectivity loss and inability to scan networks
- Bluetooth cannot be switched on
- Camera failures, broken Settings search, Network and Internet pages failing to load, increased idle battery drain
Troubleshooting and response
- Restarting the phone, resetting network settings, booting into safe mode, or performing a factory reset do not resolve the issue
- Some users claim reinstalling the latest public build helped, but this requires sideloading through a computer
- Google acknowledged the complaints on X and advised affected users to contact support; no cause or fix timeline given
- The January 2026 Pixel update focuses on bug fixes and performance improvements, not new features; the changelog highlights fixes for noisy tones during Webex calls, abnormal battery drain, and intermittent touchscreen responsiveness
- Users who have not installed the January update may want to delay until a patch is released
Google has not shared a timeline for a fix and says affected users should contact support.
