OnePlus Ace 6 Ultra Shows Off Metal Storm Color Ahead of April 28 Launch

OnePlus Ace 6 Ultra gets new Metal Storm finish

OnePlus has shown another design for the Ace 6 Ultra ahead of its April 28 unveiling, this time in a color called Metal Storm. The company had already previewed the Ace Awakening look last week, and the latest teaser focuses on the back panel, frame and gaming-oriented build.

The new Metal Storm version combines a metal frame with a matte finish and a glass back panel with what OnePlus calls a silk texture. The phone is part of the Ace 6 Ultra lineup that will be unveiled next Tuesday. OnePlus has also repeated that the device is being shaped for long gaming sessions, with rounded corners, heat insulation around the frame and support for 165fps gaming through a custom kernel.

Metal Storm joins Ace Awakening in the teaser run

OnePlus says the silk texture on the rear panel is made by etching a nanoscale pattern. The company says the finish feels soft to the touch and glitters in the light, while also helping to keep fingerprints away. Images shared by the company show the Ace 6 Ultra in Metal Storm on its own and alongside the Ace Awakening color.

The gaming focus remains central to the teaser materials. OnePlus says the Ace 6 Ultra has rounded corners that do not dig into the palms, and the metal frame is insulated from the heat generated by the Dimensity 9500 chipset. The company also says a custom kernel optimizes GPU rendering so games can reach 165fps, matching the screen refresh rate.

OnePlus confirms companion gaming controller details

OnePlus is also preparing a companion gaming controller for the Ace 6 Ultra. The accessory adds four physical buttons with a 1.8ms reaction time, and it comes with a cooling fan that snaps on magnetically. OnePlus says the controller can also be used without the fan attached.

For now, the company has not shared the full launch details beyond the April 28 unveiling date. The recent teasers suggest OnePlus is putting both design and gaming hardware front and center as it counts down to the Ace 6 Ultra launch.

  • Launch date: April 28
  • New color: Metal Storm
  • Back panel: glass with silk texture
  • Frame: metal with matte finish
  • Gaming support: custom kernel for 165fps
  • Chipset mentioned: Dimensity 9500
  • Controller: four buttons, 1.8ms reaction time
  • Cooling accessory: magnetic snap-on fan

Last week, OnePlus had highlighted the Ace Awakening design, which uses the word “Ace” etched on the back in a way that creates a 3D effect. The Metal Storm reveal now gives the Ace 6 Ultra a second hero look before the launch event next week. Both colors are being shown in the run-up to the unveiling, with the company keeping the focus on finish, grip and gaming use rather than a broader spec sheet.

The teaser materials do not add more detail on pricing or availability. OnePlus is expected to reveal the device formally on April 28, and the latest images place the Metal Storm finish alongside the earlier Ace Awakening version as the main visual identities of the phone.
