Airtel Raises Prepaid Plan Price to Rs 899 and Keeps 84 Day Benefits Unchanged

Airtel revises 84 day prepaid plan pricing

Airtel Raises Prepaid Plan Price as the major telecom operator has quietly increased the price of its 84-day validity prepaid plan to Rs 899 from Rs 859. The plan continues to offer unlimited voice calls, 100 SMS per day and 1.5GB of high-speed data daily, while the Rs 799 pack has been discontinued.

The revised plan keeps the same benefits as before, with data speeds reduced to up to 64 Kbps after the daily limit is used. Users who had been relying on the Rs 799 option now have to move to either the Rs 619 plan for 60 days or the Rs 899 plan for 84 days.

Plan benefits stay the same after price hike

Airtel has not given an official explanation for the change, though reports suggest the revision is linked to Average Revenue Per User. The update appears limited to this prepaid segment and does not point to a broader tariff overhaul in the input data.

  • New price: Rs 899
  • Earlier price: Rs 859
  • Validity: 84 days
  • Daily data: 1.5GB
  • Voice calls: Unlimited local, STD and roaming
  • SMS: 100 per day
  • After limit speed: Up to 64 Kbps

The Rs 799 Airtel prepaid plan, which offered similar benefits for 77 days, is no longer listed in the portfolio. That leaves the Rs 619 plan with 60 days of validity and the revised Rs 899 pack as the main options mentioned in the input data for users who want 1.5GB per day.

Jio’s 84 day plan now sits slightly lower

Following the revision, Reliance Jio’s 1.5GB-per-day plan with 84 days of validity is priced at Rs 889, which is lower than Airtel’s revised Rs 899 pack. Jio also has other prepaid options listed in the input, including a Rs 666 plan with 70 days of validity and a Rs 579 pack with 56 days.

Airtel's gap with Jio is minimal, and other data does not reflect any significant changes besides pricing changes; therefore, there will not be an overall difference by way of service or product offering. This "quiet change" has gone relatively unnoticed so far, with users only observing that both their prepaid plans with Airtel and the fact that the previous Rs 799 prepaid plan has been discontinued.

For now, the main change is straightforward: Airtel’s 84-day, 1.5GB daily data prepaid plan costs more, while the included benefits remain unchanged. The revised pricing puts the plan just above Jio’s comparable offering, though both continue to target the same prepaid segment with similar data and validity terms.

The removal of the Rs 799 plan has given users on older Airtel packs fewer choices in the 1.5GB category. The reduced number of available plans for 1.5GB data users has resulted in reduced options, leaving only the Rs 899 plan as Airtel's longest-validity (30-day) daily data plan with 1.5GB of available data.
