Is Oppo Find X9 Ultra hiding a new 10x telephoto secret with its built in teleconverter

Oppo Find X9 Ultra camera teaser points to 10x zoom

Oppo has shared new teasers for the Find X9 Ultra as the phone moves toward a launch in select global markets in April. The latest teaser focuses on the rear camera setup, including a 50-megapixel 10x telephoto camera that Oppo describes as a built-in teleconverter.

The company says the camera will provide 10x optical zoom without a teleconverter attached, unlike some other flagship Android smartphones. It also says the sensor is the world’s first 50-megapixel 10x optical telephoto and that it supports 230mm equivalent focal length.

Camera setup includes dual 200-megapixel sensors

According to the details shared so far, the Oppo Find X9 Ultra rear camera setup could include two 200-megapixel sensors and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle shooter. Oppo has also shared camera samples showing native 10x zoom output, while a teaser video appears to show the teleconverter folding into the device.

The 50-megapixel telephoto camera is said to use a custom Samsung ISOCELL sensor with an f/3.5 aperture. Oppo states that it will deliver DSLR-level performance and gimbal-level OIS with triple ultra-precise active optical calibrations. The company also claims the camera can capture 20x shots at a 460mm equivalent with optical-quality zoom.

Find X9 Ultra specs remain tied to recent reports

Oppo has been teasing the Find X9 Ultra for several weeks. Recent reports suggest an April 20 release and point to a 6.82-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate. The phone could run on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC.

The same reports say the handset may come with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 512GB of onboard storage. It is also tipped to carry IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance. Battery details mentioned in the input place it at 7,050mAh, with support for 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.

Oppo’s camera focus also places the Find X9 Ultra near the Vivo X300 Ultra in the premium Android segment. The Vivo model is set for launch in China on March 30 with a 400mm Zeiss Telephoto Extender Kit and a 200-megapixel Sony LYT-901 main camera sensor.
