Apple’s Next MacBook Pro Is Almost Here – M5 Pro & M5 Max Launch Timeline Revealed
Apple has reportedly been developing new MacBook Pro models featuring the unannounced M5 Pro and M5 Max chips for some time. Earlier reports pointed to a February launch, but Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman now offers a revised timeline for the devices. The new MacBook Pro models are said to debut alongside the release of macOS 26.3, with Gurman suggesting they could ship as early as the week of March 2, tied to the macOS cycle. The current M4 Pro and M4 Max-equipped MacBook Pro models are in short supply in the US, a sign cited by observers as an indicator that the next-generation lineup may be near.
In this cycle, Gurman says Apple is also planning several Macs, including new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models, and a MacBook Air with an M5 processor, shortly. Upgraded Mac Studio desktops are expected to reach customers in the coming months, while the Studio Display and the new Mac mini are slated to launch this year.
Recent reports also mention a low-cost MacBook model in the first half of this year. The device is described as likely under 13 inches in display size and could use an iPhone-class chip, positioned to compete with Windows laptops and Chromebooks. Separately, Apple is said to be preparing a refreshed iPad lineup, including standard iPad, iPad Mini, and iPad Air models with chipset upgrades.
Upcoming devices and timeline
The Power On newsletter outlines a timeline for the MacBook Pro family and related machines, with the March launch window repeatedly cited by Gurman. Officials involved said production scheduling is tied to software readiness and supply chain conditions, while people familiar with the matter noted demand signals have remained supportive for a next-generation lineup.
