Huawei Mate 80 Pro Global Variant Design Teased Ahead of Madrid Launch

Huawei has shown the design of the Mate 80 Pro ahead of its international debut. The company posted official visuals on X highlighting a new Dual Space Ring rear design that appears to be the same as the model already available in China, where the device was first launched in November 2025. Huawei also confirmed a global unveiling is planned for February 26 at an Innovative Product Launch event in Madrid, Spain.

The teaser visuals focus on the rear, where a large circular camera module bearing XMAGE branding sits within a glossy black ring. A second, subtler circular imprint sits below the main module. The device is pictured in a champagne-gold finish described as Dawn Gold in Chinese materials. The front shows a near edge-to-edge display with slim bezels and a pill-shaped cutout for the selfie camera and sensors.

In China, the Mate 80 Pro runs HarmonyOS 6.0 and sports a 6.75-inch LTPO AMOLED display protected by second-generation Kunlun Glass. The handset is powered by Huawei's Kirin 9030 Pro chipset and carries IP68 and IP69 dust- and water-resistance. Its battery capacity is listed at 5,500 mAh, with 100W wired charging, 80W wireless charging and 18W wired reverse charging.

On the imaging side, the Mate 80 Pro features a 50-megapixel RYYB main sensor with an f/1.4–f/4.0 variable aperture, a 40-megapixel ultra-wide camera, a 48-megapixel macro telephoto, and a second-generation Red Maple primary colour sensor. The front camera sits at 13 megapixels and is paired with a 3D depth-sensing unit for facial recognition.

Huawei’s Global Launch Plans and Expected Device Lineup

Huawei has confirmed the Mate 80 Pro will be unveiled globally at Madrid’s Innovative Product Launch event on February 26. The event is also expected to introduce several other devices, including the Huawei Watch GT Runner 2, developed with marathoner Eliud Kipchoge’s team, and the Huawei Watch Ultimate 2 with an upgraded golf mode. The company is also said to announce the Huawei FreeBuds Pro 5 earbuds, the Band 11 Series wearables, and the MatePad Mini tablet alongside the Mate 80 Pro.

The company did not provide additional technical details beyond those already highlighted for the Chinese variant, and officials did not offer further specifications in the teaser post. Analysts will be watching for any variance between the Chinese variant’s HarmonyOS 6.0 features and the global software package, as Huawei prepares to take the Mate 80 Pro to international markets for the first time since its China launch late last year.
