iPhone 18 Pro Reportedly Gets Aggressive Pricing strategy for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, according to a research note seen by 9to5Mac and attributed to market analyst Jeff Pu. The note suggests the company may either hold prices close to last year’s models or raise them only slightly, even as memory and storage costs continue to climb across the smartphone industry.

The report comes after the iPhone 17 series launched in global markets, including India, in September last year, with Apple raising prices for its three models in India and increasing the base storage of the standard variant. For the iPhone 17 Pro in India, Apple set a starting price of Rs. 1,34,900 for the 256GB model, while the 512GB and 1TB options were priced at Rs. 1,54,900 and Rs. 1,74,900. The iPhone 17 Pro Max started at Rs. 1,49,900 for 256GB, and went up to Rs. 2,29,900 for the 2TB version.

Memory and storage costs remain a pressure point

According to the transcript, rising DRAM and NAND flash memory prices have forced several OEMs to increase handset prices across categories to protect margins. The pressure is linked to a shortage driven by the rapid rise in AI adoption. In that setting, Apple is said to be using pricing more carefully for its next Pro models.

Jeff Pu reportedly said the smaller gap between iPhone pricing and premium Android handsets could affect Android smartphone market share. The note says the difference may not be as stark as it has been for years if Apple keeps the iPhone 18 Pro lineup close to current price levels.
