Apple Explores Foldable iPhone Lineup With iPhone Fold and iPhone Flip

Apple is reportedly developing a foldable iPhone lineup that includes an iPhone Fold and a second model tentatively named iPhone Flip. The roadmap, described by Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, places the iPhone Fold in the second half of 2026, with a smaller clamshell style iPhone Flip to follow after the Fold, according to sources familiar with the matter.

In the Power On newsletter, Gurman wrote that the company is exploring a smaller foldable version of the iPhone Fold, which is expected to be launched in the second half of 2026.

The purported iPhone Flip is rumored to feature a square, clamshell style design, similar to potential flip style competitors like the Motorola Razr 60 Ultra and the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7, with the Flip design reportedly launching after the Fold.

Earlier this week details on the roadmap began to surface.

In recent days the focus has been on the potential timing and design direction of a second foldable iPhone model.

Roadmap details

Bloomberg in the Power On newsletter notes Apple is exploring multiple foldable form factors as part of its iPhone roadmap. The report centers on the iPhone Fold as the primary foldable model and on a second model that could be the iPhone Flip.

  • iPhone Fold is described as foldable and is expected in the second half of 2026
  • iPhone Flip is a smaller square clamshell style device expected after the iPhone Fold
  • The Flip design is said to resemble the Motorola Razr 60 Ultra and the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7

Officials involved said the details remain under wraps and Apple has not publicly confirmed timelines. The information is based on Gurman reports in Power On and discussions with people familiar with the matter.
