Apple Said to Line Up Foldable iPhone, Touchscreen MacBook and AI Smart Home Devices
Apple Said to Have a Strong Pipeline Under John Ternus
Apple is reportedly preparing a broad run of new hardware under incoming CEO John Ternus, with Apple Said to Plan Foldable iPhone as the first major move. According to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, Tim Cook is expected to leave behind a “strong pipeline” of products spanning phones, home devices, wearables, tablets, and Macs.
The report says Apple’s first book-style foldable could arrive within two weeks of Ternus taking charge, and it may be marketed as the iPhone Ultra. The handset is expected to be unveiled with the iPhone 18 Pro lineup. Cook, who has led Apple for about 15 years, is said to be joining the company board and engaging with policymakers on Apple’s behalf.
Foldable iPhone and Other Product Plans
Gurman said Apple reportedly wanted Ternus to host the company’s September launch event, the stage where Apple usually introduces its flagship products, including the latest iPhone models. The report also says Ternus oversaw the engineering and development of the rumored foldable, making him one of the main faces for the device if and when it is introduced.
According to the newsletter, Ternus’ hardware engineering background is part of why Apple may place him in front of major launches. The report does not say the devices are confirmed, and it adds that the products should be treated with caution because they are still said to be under development.
AI Smart Home Devices, Wearables and Mac Plans
Beyond the foldable iPhone, the report says Ternus will oversee several other product categories Apple is said to be working on. Those include AI-powered smart home devices such as a HomePod with a screen, which could be called the Smart Home Hub, a new tabletop robot and new security devices that might compete with Ring and Google Nest.
The report also points to AI-powered wearables with built-in cameras. That list includes Apple’s first smart glasses, AI-backed AirPods with cameras and a rumored AI pendant. On the computer side, Apple is said to be considering the first MacBook with a touchscreen, which could arrive early next year. The company is also said to be looking at new AR glasses that could launch between 2028 and 2030.
Another device in the pipeline is the first foldable iPad model, which might feature a 20-inch foldable screen. The report does not offer a launch date for that product. It also does not say whether the touchscreen MacBook or the AR glasses are finalised, only that they are part of the broader development work now linked to Ternus.
Tim Cook’s planned move to the board and his continued policy engagement come as Apple appears to be setting up its next leadership phase. For now, the reports point to a long list of possible devices, but the newsletter itself says it is difficult to know which of them will actually reach the market.
