Nothing Essential Apps Builder Hits Beta Lets Users Vibe Code Personalised Apps

Nothing unveiled its Essential Suite of AI tools in September 2025. The London-based smartphone maker has now started rolling out the beta version of the Essential Apps Builder, a component of that suite, to Nothing Phone 3 users via the Playground hub. The beta is being released in batches, and interested users must join a waitlist to gain access. The stable release is planned for later this year, and the company says Remixing Apps will accompany it in the Playground hub.

Officials said the beta rollout is designed to allow users to build personalised apps using vibe coding, which interprets natural language prompts to generate apps and widgets. The rollout is currently limited to the Nothing Phone 3, with plans to expand to other devices running Nothing OS 4.0 and later once the beta stabilises.

Beta rollout and current scope

In a community post this week, Nothing announced the broader distribution of the Essential Apps Builder beta to a wider user base within the Playground hub. The feature is initially available to Nothing Phone 3 owners, with access granted in batches. Users must register to enter the beta waitlist. The company indicates that a stable release is planned for later this year and will be accompanied by Remixing Apps functionality in the same playground environment.

Capabilities, limitations and roadmap

At present, Nothing states the Essential Apps Builder requires access to the phone’s location data, read-only calendar and Contacts. With these permissions, the builder can create location-based reminders, agenda views, meeting countdowns and one-tap contact widgets. Officials said more capabilities will be rolled out over time, including camera and microphone access, network fetching, notifications, vibration, calling and Bluetooth support. A late February OS update is slated to introduce activity recognition, usage statistics, sensor data and a system Weather API to the app builder.

This follows the September 2025 launch of Nothing’s Essential Suite of AI tools. Earlier, only the Alpha version of the Essential Apps Builder was available to internal and select community members. The app builder uses vibe coding to generate apps and widgets from natural language prompts and will feature clearer labeling for live apps, draft apps and changes to aid publishing and updating processes, according to Nothing.
