OnePlus Nord 6 India launch hints at a 9000mAh twist buyers didn’t expect
OnePlus Nord 6 launch details
OnePlus is set to launch the Nord 6 in India on April 7 at 7 PM IST, with sales starting April 9 at 12 PM IST. The phone will be sold through Amazon India, OnePlus’ official website, OnePlus Experience stores and select offline outlets.
The company has already confirmed several specifications ahead of the event, including the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset, a 9,000mAh battery, and a 165Hz 1.5K AMOLED display. Pricing is not confirmed yet, but the phone is expected to fall in the Rs 35,000 to Rs 40,000 range.
OnePlus Nord 6 expected price and availability
OnePlus has not announced the final price, though its teasers place the Nord 6 in the Rs 35,000–Rs 40,000 segment. The Nord 5 launched last year at Rs 31,999, so a higher starting price is expected for the new model.
The phone will be available first in India from April 9, with listings on Amazon India and OnePlus’ own website. It will also be sold at OnePlus Experience stores and select offline outlets, despite the company’s recent shift toward online-only retail in some markets. OnePlus has also said its service network in India is expanding to over 600 centres using OPPO’s infrastructure.
Specifications confirmed so far
OnePlus has revealed much of the Nord 6’s hardware before launch. The device is powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of UFS 4.1 storage. The company is claiming an AnTuTu score of over 2.5 million for the phone.

The display is one of the main talking points. OnePlus says the 165Hz panel is the same type used on the OnePlus 15, and the company is also promising sustained 165 fps gaming on titles such as BGMI, Call of Duty Mobile and Free Fire Max. A dedicated Touch Reflex Chip is included for 3200Hz touch sampling.
The battery is another major feature. OnePlus says the 9,000mAh cell can deliver more than 2.5 days of moderate usage, with claims of over 26 hours of YouTube streaming, around 16 hours of Google Maps navigation and 6.3 hours of 4K video recording at 60fps. Charging is rated at 80W, with a full charge taking around 70 minutes. The phone also gets an upgraded Bypass Charging mode that now covers 4K recording and video calls in addition to gaming.
On the camera side, the Nord 6 uses a 50MP Sony LYTIA-600 primary sensor with dual-axis OIS, an 8MP ultrawide camera and a 32MP front camera. OnePlus says it is focusing on natural colour reproduction. In durability terms, the Nord 6 comes with IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings, a step up from the Nord 5’s IP65 rating. The box will also include a pre-applied screen protector and a protective case.
Software support has been improved as well. The phone runs OxygenOS 16 based on Android 16, and OnePlus is promising four major OS updates and six years of security patches. New software features include Open Canvas for split-screen multitasking, Seamless Connect for cross-platform file sharing, and a wider AI suite that includes Mind Space, AI Ghostwriter, AI Scan, AI Eraser, AI Unblur and real-time translation.
Connectivity features include a custom G2 Wi-Fi chip and 5G Advanced support. OnePlus has said the Nord 6 should offer three times faster peak data speeds on Jio’s network when used with that support. The phone will be offered in Holographic Quick Silver, Fresh Mint and Pitch Black.
Earlier hands-on impressions shared before launch said the design is cleaner than the Nord 5, with a square camera module and a more restrained look. The company is also positioning the Nord 6 as a broader upgrade over the Nord 5, which had a smaller battery and lower IP65 protection. Final pricing and complete launch details will be announced at the April 7 event.
