Redmi K100 Pro Max 200MP Camera Leak Signals Global Poco F9 Ultra
Camera hardware and variant expectations
Redmi appears to be shaping up for a new flagship lineup as leaks surface about the Redmi K100 series ahead of an expected launch. Early information points to major camera upgrades, with a possible 200-megapixel sensor and a periscope telephoto lens among the options. A tipster suggests Redmi could equip the K100 range with more advanced imaging hardware, including a 200 MP sensor. The K100 lineup is expected to include two variants at first, the Redmi K100 and K100 Pro Max, with Qualcomm flagships powering both devices. The details come from leak activity circulated online and mentioned by a known tipster.
The Redmi K100 Pro Max is tipped to feature a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto camera. A post linked to the leak carries a hashtag that suggests relevance to the Redmi K100 lineup. It remains unclear whether the 200 MP upgrade would be applied to the main camera or the periscope unit.
Current specs context and variant strategy
For reference, the current Redmi K90 model uses a triple rear camera setup: a 50 MP primary sensor, an 8 MP ultra-wide lens, and a 50 MP telephoto sensor. The Pro Max version also uses three cameras but replaces the telephoto with a 50 MP periscope unit while maintaining a 50 MP ultra-wide sensor.
The Redmi K90 Pro Max was released globally under the Poco F8 Ultra branding, and a similar strategy could follow with the K100 Pro Max being renamed as the Poco F9 Ultra. If that happens, the F9 Ultra may become Poco’s first handset to feature a 200 MP camera. The Poco F9 series is currently expected to arrive in early 2027, possibly in the first quarter.
Codename, chips and launch timing
The Redmi K100 is reportedly codenamed “athens” with model number Q11, while the K100 Pro Max carries the codename “songyuan” and model number Q11X. Both phones are expected to use flagship Qualcomm chips. The Redmi K100 will be one of the first devices to feature Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, while the Redmi K100 Pro Max version may debut Qualcomm's newest processor, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6. In addition, both will have a 200 MP camera and will feature an optional periscope-style telephoto lens.
The Redmi K100 is anticipated to use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, while the Redmi K100 Pro Max may utilize the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chipset.
There are also reports that the Redmi K100 Pro Max will be branded globally as the Poco F9 Ultra. The two models are anticipated to be unveiled during the first quarter of 2027 in global markets, with various leaks pointing toward a product launch occurring during this time.
It should be noted that this information has not yet been confirmed by Xiaomi, and additional information should be used as a guideline only until the company makes a formal announcement.
