Xiaomi 18 Pro Eyes Dual 200MP Cameras
We anticipate that the Xiaomi 18 Series will be released by the end of the year as a standard model and an Pro version. Little information is available about the devices other than from a recent leak, which suggests that both devices may come equipped with dual 200MP cameras.
If this is true, the main camera will be 200MP and the periscope telephoto lens will also be 200MP. This would line up with other reported high-end smartphones and the fact that Xiaomi has been known to keep high-resolution camera capabilities limited to their Pro versions in their previous series of flagship devices is a strong indication that they will do the same with the 18 Series.
Last year’s Xiaomi 17 and 17 Pro used 6.3-inch displays, with only the Pro version offering higher-end camera features. The Xiaomi 18 Pro is likely to follow this pattern, while a possible Xiaomi 18 Pro Max may also receive the camera upgrade.
According to tipster Digital Chat Station, a compact flagship with a 6.3-inch display is tipped to feature dual 200MP rear cameras. While the leak does not explicitly name the Xiaomi 18 series, the accompanying comments suggest the device in question could be the Xiaomi 18 Pro.
The Xiaomi 17 and 17 Pro previously offered 6.3-inch displays, but only the Pro model included upgraded camera hardware. The same pattern appears likely for the Xiaomi 18 Pro, which is expected to include dual 200MP cameras at the back. The Pro Max may also receive the camera upgrade.
Xiaomi may offer a 200MP main camera and a 200MP periscope telephoto unit, a combination some have linked to other flagship devices such as the rumored vivo X300 Ultra and the Oppo Find X9s.
The Xiaomi 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max are also likely to retain the rear display and a design language similar to their predecessors. Meanwhile, the base Xiaomi 18 has also been tipped to get a periscope telephoto camera. Pricing, launch dates, and final specifications remain unannounced by the company.
Specs to Watch
- Dual 200MP rear cameras (main and periscope telephoto)
- Possible 6.3-inch display for a compact flagship device
- Rear display design language likely retained on the 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max
- Base Xiaomi 18 also tipped to receive a periscope telephoto upgrade
