Samsung Unveils Privacy Screen to Curb Shoulder Surfing on Galaxy S26

Samsung Demonstrates Its Upcoming Privacy Screen Feature

JhatpatLo reports that Samsung announced on Wednesday it will soon bring a new privacy layer to its Galaxy devices. The feature aims to curb shoulder surfing by making the screen visible only to the user, while people nearby cannot see what is on the display. Samsung described the privacy layer as effective when others are not viewing the display straight-on.

The company did not specify whether the feature would be released to existing Galaxy devices or reserved for future models.

The privacy layer will ship with multiple settings that allow users to adjust screen visibility based on the level of privacy protection. It also enables users to hide parts of their experience behind the privacy layer, including notification pop-ups, and to apply greater privacy to selected apps.

In a video demonstration, the privacy screen automatically activated when a user entered their passcode and appeared dimmed or hardly visible to people standing next to them in a lift or in low lighting.

Samsung noted that the feature will offer several settings and the ability to customize when it activates. This includes enabling greater privacy for specific apps and for parts of the user experience.

The Galaxy S26 series, including the Galaxy S26, S26 Plus and Galaxy S26 Ultra, is expected to launch in February. Samsung has not disclosed plans to launch new handsets next month, and it is not clear whether the privacy layer will ship with existing devices or only future Galaxy models.
