Huawei MatePad Pro Max Goes Global With 4.7mm Design and OLED Display

Huawei launches MatePad Pro Max globally

Huawei MatePad Pro Max Launches, putting a 4.7mm chassis, a 13.2-inch OLED PaperMatte display and productivity tools at the center of the launch. The tablet starts at EUR 1,399 and is being positioned around work use, with PC-style WPS Office features, multitasking support and optional accessories.

The device is part of Huawei’s push into premium tablets that are being presented as laptop alternatives for users who want portability and large-screen workflow features. Huawei has not disclosed the processor powering the tablet.

Productivity features take the lead

Huawei is framing the MatePad Pro Max as a work-first tablet rather than a media-focused one. The launch places more weight on software and usage patterns than on raw performance claims, with desktop-style editing tools and multitasking functions built into the pitch.

The tablet supports Live-Multitask, which allows up to three app windows at the same time. It also comes with PC-style WPS Office features, aiming to serve users who want a tablet that can handle document work in a more desktop-like way. Huawei is also offering support for the Glide Keyboard and the M-Pencil Pro, both of which fit into the company’s productivity setup.

  • M-Pencil Pro support

Thin body, large battery and premium pricing

The hardware side of the MatePad Pro Max centers on thinness and battery capacity. Huawei says the tablet measures 4.7mm thick and weighs under 510 grams, placing it among the company’s thinnest large-screen tablets. It also includes a 10,400mAh battery with 66W charging.

The display is listed as a 144Hz OLED panel with up to 1,600 nits brightness. Those details, along with the PaperMatte finish, suggest Huawei is pushing both usability and portability in the same device. At the same time, the company has left out the chipset details, a notable omission in a launch that otherwise highlights premium specifications.

The starting price of EUR 1,399 places the MatePad Pro Max firmly in premium territory. Huawei is moving the tablet into a segment where buyers are likely to compare it with lightweight laptops as much as with other tablets. The company’s approach in this launch is centered on portability, large-screen productivity and accessory support, with less emphasis on traditional performance messaging.

The global launch comes as premium tablets continue to overlap with laptop-style use cases. In Huawei’s case, the MatePad Pro Max is being presented through that lens from the start, with its design, software tools and accessory ecosystem forming the main story around the device.
