Telegram Rolls Out Android and iOS Redesign With Auto Group Ownership Transfer
Telegram redesign brings Android and iOS overhaul
Telegram has announced a fully redesigned interface for its Android app, aimed at faster navigation and more intuitive search. The update centers on a new bottom bar that lets users quickly switch between Chats, Settings, Profile and other sections.
Officials involved said Telegram completely rebuilt the interface code to maximize efficiency and responsiveness. The company notes that users can visit Settings > Power Saving to maximize performance and extend battery life.
iOS refinements, group ownership and new crafting features
On iOS, the update brings a redesigned media viewer, new preview panels for sticker and emoji packs, and updated context menus in user profiles and when selecting messages. iPad users gain a new keyboard shortcut to send messages: Command plus Enter.
If you are a group owner, Telegram will automatically transfer ownership to one of the group’s admins one week after you leave the chat. A confirmation window appears when leaving, allowing the user to choose a new owner. Group owners can also transfer ownership to another group member without leaving the chat.
The update also introduces a crafting system that lets users combine existing collectible gifts to create Uncommon, Rare, Epic, or Legendary versions with artwork and unique effects. The crafting interface supports up to four gifts, and each additional gift increases the chance of a successful result. Using multiple gifts with the same attributes raises the likelihood those attributes appear in the final item. The collectible gifts can be bought and sold via Telegram's Gift Marketplace.
Bots gain new options as well, with developers able to add emojis and colors to their buttons to make interfaces more intuitive or highlight specific actions.
Android, iPhone and iPad users will need to update the app from the official app store to access the new features.
